In the plains known as the Basso Lodigiano near Lodi, there is a place named
Gerundo, where a spring once gave life to a small now extinct lake. Giuliano
Mauri’s outdoor installation is characterized by it’s Ciclico (Cyclical)
approach. Branches, towers and nests of vegetation interweave and interact
with the natural landscape to create an opera that changes continuously with
the passing of the seasons.
His artistic practice does not aim so much at an aesthetic goal, but rather,
an intimate confrontation with the laws of natural growth in the search for a
common breath. The video, shot over the course of a year, captures the artist
at work and shows us, through his reflections, the metamorphosis of a place
where the concept of nature vs. artifice is blurred.
