Claudio Abbado, far from believing that making music was the only way to act in society, totally embodied the figure of the project artist, distinct from that of the performance artist. Music therefore not only as a cultured form of reflection or entertainment but as an instrument of change. Change as a commitment to the transformation of society through a multiple series of interventions, linked to music and other themes such as attention towards young musicians, openness towards experimentation and new languages, the expansion of the musical offer to a new public, people often marginalized by traditional access channels, interest in environmental and ecology issues, the education of young people, the formation of youth and international orchestras, the commitment to new music.
