VERTOV is an independent production house founded by Luca Scarzella in 2009 concentrated on projects where video intersects with other art forms. In addition to traditional video production, including music and art documentaries, VERTOV is specialized in visual dramaturgy for the theater and multimedia and interactive video environments for exhibitions and museums.
VERTOV has worked in the most prestigious theaters and Opera houses of Italy and around the globe including the United States, China, Korea and Japan.
The studio regularly works with the directors Daniele Abbado and Roberto Andò. Collaborations in Opera include the directors Denis Krief, Egisto Marcucci, Franco Ripa di Meana, Francesco Micheli, Damiano Michieletto, Lukas Hemleb, Federico Grazzini and Serena Sinigaglia. VERTOV has also partecipate in Theater productions by Studio Azzurro, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Moni Ovadia, Walter Pagliaro, André Ruth Shammah and Dominique Pitoiset and has realized visual dramaturgy for the contemporary composers Giorgio Battistelli, Luca Francesconi, Michele Tadini, Piero Milesi, Marco Betta, Helmuth Lachenmann, Helmuth Ohering, Nicola Sani, Juste Janulyte, Ludovico Einaudi and Ella Milch-Sheriff.
The studio has mounted exhibitions and multimedia installations for the Museum of the Teatro alla Scala, the Triennale, Palazzo Reale and the Museo del ‘900 in Milan. The Venice Biennale Musica, the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome, Résau Varèse and the Ircam in Paris, Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm.
